DeSoto Independent School District will host a student job fair on May 2 at DeSoto High School. Leading up to that point, district teachers and leaders are working with students on interview prep and skill development, resume development, and other nuances associated with job readiness.
The job fair is aimed at pairing students with employment opportunities in three capacities:
- Summer Employment
- Longer-Term Employment
- Post Grad Employment
The DeSoto High School Career & Technical Education department is seeking employers interested in participating in a May 2 student-centered job fair to engage students seeking paid internships; summer employment; part-time, year-round employment; or full-time employment for graduating seniors.
DeSoto High School currently offers the programs of study listed below and wants to connect with employers in these respective areas of study; however, many job skills are transferable and, thus, the district wants to extend invitations for employment in any area.
Pathways of Study Offered:
- Animal Science
- Welding (some students are AWS certified)
- Audio/Video Technology & Digital Audio Technology (some students are Adobe certified)
- Graphic Design & Animation (some students are Adobe certified)
- Business Management, Finance, & Marketing (some students are ESB certified)
- Culinary Arts (some students are ServSafe Manager certified)
- Automotive (some students take automotive courses at Dallas College)
- Programming & Software Development
- Engineering
- Teaching & Training (students volunteer at elementary schools weekly)
- Cosmetology (some students already have a Texas Cosmetology license)
- Health Science (students are working towards Phlebotomy or CNA certifications)
- Law & Public Service (some students participate in Dallas Co. Teen Court)
