Weaver Resignation

Board of Trustee Banner

DeSoto ISD School Community:

As a Board, we understand your concerns regarding the recent news that we accepted the voluntary resignation of Dr. D’Andre J. Weaver as superintendent of DeSoto ISD.

Please know that, as a Board, we are committed to working with administration to ensure that teachers are prepared and ready to lead virtual instruction and that students have the support and resources needed to thrive this school year.

It is our goal to move away from the distraction of adult issues and reposition our collective focus back on meeting the needs of our students, teachers, families, and community.

We understand that the last few years have been difficult for our school community, but we want to reiterate that we are committed to saving our school district and putting it on the right path to healing, achievement, sound fiscal management, and stability.

We will continue to work with the TEA and district administration to address the concerns of the past, identify the right experience to lead us into the future, and realign our resources to restore the pride, tradition, and high-performance of DeSoto ISD.

As a Board, we are unified in our intent on seeing DeSoto ISD realize its full potential. We ask that our students, staff, parents, and community embrace this change as an opportunity and not a setback.

Our goals for academic and financial improvement remain the same, and our goals for unification and healing remain paramount as we move into the future. We ask that our community walk with us, talk with us, and work alongside us to see those goals to fruition.

As we define next steps in identifying Dr. Weaver’s successor, we will continue to communicate proactively and with transparency.

DeSoto ISD, we know that the last few years have not been the best in our history as a school system but, in this moment, let’s work together to rewrite a better future.
