Alumni in the News
Brittany Yearby, a 2007 DeSoto graduate, and junior biology major at Prairie View A&M University, will be featured as head majorette of the PVAMU Marching Storm Band majorettes "The Black Foxes," on October 3 at the Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic at the Cotton Bowl.
Texas A&M’s Sydney Carter, a 2008 DeSoto Graduate, is among 27 of the nation’s top 19 year old-and-under athletes who have accepted an invitation to attend the 2009 USA Basketball Women’s U19 World Championship Team Trials to be held May 14-17 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO.
Carter, a member of the 2008 State Runner Up DeSoto team,was honored on the 2009 Big 12 Conference All-Freshman Team for her outstanding first-year of play for the Aggies. She was twice selected as Big 12 Freshman of the Week.
Training camp for the U19 Team will begin on July 8 in Colorado Springs, and the 12-member roster will be announced prior to the team’s departure for the FIBA U19 World Championships to be held July 23-Aug.2 in Bangkok, Thailand.
